Throughout my years of practice, I've encountered numerous meditation techniques, each designed for various purposes - from stress relief to inner peace, psychic self-defence to financial well-being. However, among the myriad of methods I've learned, only a few have become part of my daily routine, yielding the most significant benefits.

While reciting the Great Invocation remains my primary practice for personal well-being and service to humanity, the second most impactful technique in my daily arsenal is undoubtedly "energetic rooting" or "grounding".

I first encountered this technique during my Pranic Healing course. As I delved deeper into understanding the etheric structure of humans and how it's influenced by our thoughts, emotions, and actions, I gained a more profound appreciation for its effectiveness. It's worth noting that similar grounding techniques are taught in various meditation schools, highlighting its universal importance.

The effects of rooting are remarkable and almost instantaneous. It brings about a rapid sense of focus and centeredness in the present moment. By balancing the energies of our etheric vehicles, rooting restores the correct distribution between high and low, left and right, above and below. This rebalancing translates into an immediate effect of focus, centering, and presence.

The benefits are not just energetic but also physical. After practicing rooting, I often feel stronger, more balanced, and experience enhanced clarity in both vision and hearing. Here's how to practice rooting:

  • Sit comfortably with your palms facing upwards on your thighs.

  • Close your eyes.

  • Become aware of your position on the chair.

  • Keep your body and spine relaxed yet flexible.

  • Visualise a beam of light extending from the base of your spine and the soles of your feet, descending deep into the earth - 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 metres and beyond.

  • Imagine secondary beams branching out from the main one, like the strong roots of a tree.

  • Take a few deep breaths while maintaining this awareness.

  • Open your eyes and return to normal awareness.

This exercise takes just a few minutes and can be repeated several times throughout the day. While the effect is immediate, I recommend practicing it first thing in the morning to help you start your day centered and focused.

Rooting is a simple yet powerful technique that can significantly enhance your daily life. Its ability to quickly ground and center you makes it an invaluable tool in our often hectic and disconnected world. Give it a try - you might be surprised at how such a brief practice can make such a profound difference in your day-to-day experience.
